Windows File Server using Fedora 14 Which is better Samba Standalone Server or PDC?
vpatel1271 — Tue, 01/17/2012 - 13:39
Dear All,
I am confused about Samba Simple stand alone server and PDC server ?
We have Novell Network 5.00 and almost 300 + users are connected with
different permission for directories. Now we have to closed down
Novell Network due to license expired in few days
How all users can login in different directories with different
permission on samba server or pdc ? Please do not give any link to
under stand it.
If possible anybody give running samba server or pdc server
configuration and screen shot of windows file server .
How samba pdc worked I don't understand. How can i shared windows user
files from pdc or from windows how to enter in pdc server because we
have windows 98,xp,vista,7 ,fedora 8 and fedora 14 and redhat 9
approx. 300 + users .
Samba server standalone not properly worked on vista and 7 . I have
changed vista and 7 compatibility for samba in respective machines but
still problem.
Suppose I have one machine e.g. \\192.168.10.128\share in fedora 14
now I have put all windows directory data backup in this \share folder
now each user how can log into different directory with different
permissions? cos we have users some are directly login from directory
and some are login from particular users.
Please give advice ..
Regards

and add the following entries:
DWORD DomainCompatibilityMode = 1
DWORD DNSNameResolutionRequired = 0
If you have changed the NETLOGON
Parameters, make sure and turn them back to
'1' as shown below:
HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Netlogon\Parameters
DWORD RequireSignOrSeal = 1
DWORD RequireStrongKey = 1
Samba 3.3.7.

Windows File Server using Fedora 14 Which is better Samba Standa
vpatel1271 — Tue, 01/24/2012 - 21:30Dear Ranvirsinh
Now I have attached with vista and Windows 7 but one thing I could not
solved that in Samba PDC domain control changed from Vista or any
windows machine login with particular user why it can't by default
login in /home/profiles/folder means home directory of folder where
their all files are keep. So How I will log in user via pdc from
windows to fedora 14 and other thing it's default display screen of
window user remain same.
Two Difficulties : Windows user desktop remains same
Login in home directory of user /home/profiles/
folder from Vista or any window machine to fedora 14
Regards
thanks for sharing
